Hey, I'm Ky!

AKA natural born designer, AKA ambitious being. I'm so excited to share my design work with you, and guide you through my design process.

For some context, I'm a rural farm-town girl from Southwest Missouri. I grew up in a small sphere where people lived slow and buildings weren't made for anything more than pure function. Seeing bigger cities in the movies and on road trips made me realize there was so much more potential past my immediate surroundings.

BEGINNINGS

I was never really creative when I was younger. Subjects like math and science were what I excelled at. But as I grew older, I began to find a new creative side of myself. These were the early days of what would become my career, passion and ultimately, what gives me the most enjoyment in this world.

I loved drawing floorplans on copy paper and in notebooks. Each had a theme or color scheme. I would recreate my ideas in my early childhood video games and make elaborate cardboard box mansions for my cats. My parents would hear me sawing away at the boxes with a kitchen knife in the garage, (not a single battle scar, miraculously).

College approaching, I chose interior design. Finding something I could pour my heart into and a community with similar interests opened my eyes like never before. This further confirmed that I chose the right path for myself.

MY DESIGN EXPERIENCE...SO FAR

Interior design is a field that is both technical and creative simultaneously. This is what I love most about design: the blend of analytical and creative skills to create something immersive and evoke a feeling.

Reflecting on my time as a design student, I fondly remember staying up late with classmates, exchanging ideas, teaching each other software tricks, and offering constructive feedback. These late night sessions were invaluable, reinforcing my belief that learning and refining are continuous processes in design conversations. Looking back, I think it is the most pivotal experience to my evolution and what solidified my confidence as a designer.

As I move along my career, I'm excited to find people who bring out the creativity in myself and others. There’s something really inspiring about working with individuals who challenge the way I think, push me to experiment, and make design feel like more than just a job. I want to surround myself with people who see potential in everything and aren’t afraid to take risks. That's where the best ideas come from.
